Description
To Torrelaguna you can arrive by public transport from the city of Madrid, through the long-distance bus line or overnight the night before in one of the accommodations offered by the area.
Torrelaguna, located in the northeast of the community of Madrid, right on the border with the community of Castilla-La Mancha, is surrounded by those of Somosierra and La Concha.
Before taking the route to Torremocha del Jarama, you can visit the main square of Torrelaguna and enjoy its art museum
Once back, leave Torrelaguna by the way of the Laguna Alta arriving to stop to the Town hall of Torremocha. Cross the municipality and take the opportunity to stop at the Museum of Agriculture, integrated in the surroundings of the Artisanal Center "Torrearte"
To continue, head towards Patones de Arriba. The old town of Patones, whose origins go back to 1527, has a rich history and offers interesting walks that allow us to know the attractions of its vast archaeological, architectural and landscape heritage.
Continuing your journey to the Pontón de la Oliva, it is the sixth and last dam in the course of the river Lozoya, and the oldest of the entire system of dams and canals of the Canal de Isabel II, a network that supplies drinking water to Madrid and good part of the community.
After enjoying its views, take the street of the Arroyo towards the viewpoint of the Reservoir of the Atazar. Where you will enjoy the largest reservoir of the Community of Madrid, being 46% of the volume of the region. It is the fifth reservoir in the direction of the current that is the Lozoya River in its passage and belongs to the network of the Canal de Isabel II.
To finish the route head towards Torrelaguna, but not before making a stop at the Atalaya El Berrueco, also known as Torrepedrera watchtower, is a watchtower of Muslim origin.
