We propose a walk inside the walled enclosure to go back in time more than 500 years, discovering the most outstanding buildings and monuments of the municipality. From the Church of Santa María del Castillo to the Castillo del Marqués de Santillana, passing through the ramparts of the best preserved wall in the entire Community of Madrid

Stroll through the medieval streets of Buitrago

We will start from the Plaza de la Constitución, or as the locals call it, the Plaza de la Bellota -due to the peculiar adornment located in the fountain of the same square-. From there, you can see the imposing Torre del Reloj or Albarrana, the “tower that defends itself”, due to all the defensive measures that it formerly contained inside. Under the tower, we will find the Arco de las Nieves, which was the only and main entrance to the walled area of Buitrago del Lozoya.
