Greenway of the Tajuña

Description

To leave the town, the Greenway runs along the border between the industrial area of Arganda and a gentle slope where there are barely any trace of an olive tree. The route crosses under the A-6 motorway where a moderate ascending section begins with a series of curves with frequent stretches of trenches and slopes. The climb ends when you reach a vast plateau known as El Alto and descends along a wide curve until you reach Morata de Tajuña.

After an urban stretch, our route is paired with the M-506 road, starting its rural route towards Perales. For an agricultural landscape, the red track leads us without a hitch to the lot where the Tajuña station was. Here was a branch where the trains went up to Chinchón and Colmenar de Oreja. On the other side of the road we can see the metallic bridge of this branch.

Again on the conditioned route, we are approaching towards Perales, facing a stretch in which we must overcome some bumps, short but slopes a little accused. They will be the only relevant ramps of the whole route.

We arrived at Perales de Tajuña. Its station already disappeared and its layout are at the moment streets of the town.

Past the Perales de Tajuña, the Greenway goes, until its end, on rural roads on the left bank of the Tajuña. We must remember that this section is open to the passage of rural vehicles: caution. The railroad track was on the opposite bank but it is unrecoverable, as houses and factories crush the ground.

An agricultural landscape, with smooth profiles, without ramps, leads us to Carabaña. On the opposite bank of the Tajuña is Tielmes, a village to which we can approach using the first road that we find. In this place there is a small resting area. On the side of the road, to the right, the road leads to a hermitage. From there, to the left, the Vía Verde continues crossing the Vega del Tajuña, leaving on the opposite bank the curious and well-preserved station of Chavarri, where once the bottles of the famous "Water of Carabaña" were loaded.

And we are already reaching the end of the route. At the crossroads with the road from Carabaña to Brea de Tajo, the red track, almost reaches the river, where a beautiful mill marks the entrance to Carabaña.
