Mountain and Winter Sports
Enjoy snow and mountains in Madrid
When winter covers the Guadarrama Mountains with its blanket of white, the landscape transforms into a paradise for snow and ice sports enthusiasts. It's the perfect time to enjoy ski touring and snowshoeing, with areas such as the Peñalara Massif and La Maliciosa standing out for their abundant snow.
Furthermore, winter gives way to mountaineering and ice climbing. For those looking to begin or perfect their skills in these disciplines, courses and guided activities are available. Numerous companies and clubs in the area organize these experiences, offering everything from snowshoeing routes to advanced mountaineering and ice climbing courses, with options designed for all levels and ages.

Navacerrada ski resort
To talk about the Puerto de Navacerrada is to talk about winter sports, as it is home to one of the main ski resorts in the Central System and the closest to the city of Madrid. The Navacerrada Ski Resort has 17 slopes, the longest of which, La Mancha, is 1250 meters long, some of which saw Francisco Fernández Ochoa train there in the 1960s.
Climbing in Madrid: vias and rocks in natural settings
Get your adrenaline pumping with climbing in Madrid. If you're tired of climbing walls, here you'll find the best places to climb outdoors. There are a multitude of climbing styles: classic climbing, sport climbing, and bouldering.
In addition to traditional climbing, you can try via ferratas and canyoning at various points in the mountains, always with professional supervision and appropriate equipment.

La Pedriza: Nature and Climbing
La Pedriza stands as the ultimate climbing destination in Madrid, renowned for its distinctive granite formations that offer climbing routes to suit every taste, from bouldering to traditional, sport, and artificial climbing.
Adhesion plays a crucial role in this type of climbing, requiring some practice for beginners and being highly dependent on the rock temperature.

Beyond La Pedriza
For sport climbing, the Community of Madrid has several areas with anchors: San Martín de Valdeiglesias, Patones, El Vellón, Pelayos de la Presa, or the Uceda Canyon. Access the map to get information about the location of the routes.
In El Escorial, there are two climbing areas where you can practice bouldering (a modality that is practiced without safety systems because you do not climb to a great height). Mats can be used to cushion possible falls.

Advice for everyone
Safety and responsibility above all. Before climbing, take a beginner's course at a specialized center. The Community of Madrid has many centers offering them. The Federation of Mountaineering of Madrid has courses in indoor climbing walls and sport climbing.
