Regional Tourist Interest Festival since 2014
It is celebrated on August 15
The "Travesía de las Cumbres Escurialenses" has been held since 1960.
This initiative was born from the excitement of a group of young people, related in one way or another to San Lorenzo de El Escorial, with the aim of spreading and extending the values of mountaineering.
Its peculiarity compared to other crossings held in the Sierra de Guadarrama lies in the festive and carefree aspect that surrounds it and in that it takes place during the "Fiestas Patronales de San Lorenzo de El Escorial."
In 2010, the 50th edition of the "Travesía" was celebrated, an anniversary hardly comparable in the Madrid region.
The sports character of the "Travesía" is undeniable as it is an itinerary of approximately 22 kilometers, which is done on foot through the peaks surrounding the population of San Lorenzo de El Escorial: "Tercer Ermitaño," "El Fraile," "San Benito," "Risco Alto," and "Alto de Abantos."
