Arroyomolinos

Arroyomolinos, a town of 36,000 inhabitants (2023), located 31 kilometres southwest of Madrid, invites you to discover a rich historical heritage and an enviable natural environment.

The origins of Arroyomolinos date back to Roman times, as evidenced by the numerous archaeological sites found in the municipality. The town was founded during the Muslim invasion, and was later reconquered by King Alfonso VI of León in his advance towards Toledo. In the 15th century, Pedro I of Castile granted Diego Gómez de Toledo the privilege of repopulating the area of ​​Arroyomolinos.

The Torreón de Arroyomolinos, restored in the 21st century, is the most representative element of the town. It is believed to have been built by order of Juan de Oviedo and is adorned with the coats of arms of the Catholic Monarchs and Gonzalo Chacón.

The municipality also has the Cordel de Arroyomolinos, a path that runs from the Guadarrama River to Móstoles, where you can find archaeological remains of medieval mills built in the Mudejar style and recreational areas.

Arroyomolinos is partially included in the Regional Park of the Middle Course of the Guadarrama River, a protected area that houses a wide variety of ecosystems and landscapes. Nature lovers can enjoy hiking and cycling routes, observe birds and diverse fauna, or simply relax in the green areas of the municipality. And for the little ones, the Senda Mágica, a route along the forest stream guided by fairies, gnomes, trolls and other magical creatures that promote the care of nature.

Arroyomolinos has one of the icons of leisure and shopping in Madrid, the Intu Xanadú shopping center, where we find Snozone, one of the largest indoor nine-a-side courts in Europe, as well as the Atlantis Aquarium.
