Welcome to the definitive guide to the Uclés Way! If you are looking for a unique experience that combines rural tourism, history, and adventure in the heart of nature, we invite you to discover this iconic pilgrimage route connecting the heart of Madrid with the lands of Cuenca. Below, we detail everything you need to know to plan your trip step by step.
What is the Uclés Way?
The Uclés Way is a fascinating rural tourism and Christian pilgrimage route connecting downtown Madrid with the province of Cuenca. This 145-kilometer, six-stage journey begins at the Church of Santiago in Madrid and ends at the imposing Royal Monastery of Santiago of Uclés, the historic headquarters of the Order.
Definitively recovered in 2010 after centuries of oblivion, this medieval itinerary runs parallel to the Tajuña Green Way and is marked with red arrows and the Cross of Saint James. It makes a perfect alternative to traditional routes toward Santiago de Compostela, heading eastward through the Alcarria region of Madrid and the Upper La Mancha of Cuenca, offering travelers a different perspective rich in traditions.
