The Running of the Bulls of San Sebastián de los Reyes

The Running of the Bulls of San Sebastián de los Reyes—often referred to as Madrid's running of the bulls—positions the city at the center of international tourism during the Festivities in Honor of the Santísimo Cristo de los Remedios. This tradition, spanning more than five centuries, gathers thousands of people daily along the entire route, while tens of thousands more follow each run through a special broadcast on the Antena 3 television network.

They are undoubtedly the main attraction of the festive cycle for which San Sebastián de los Reyes is known worldwide. Last Friday, the official presentation of the bullfighting fair for the upcoming festivities took place at the "La Tercera" bullring. Highlights of the lineup include the return of the Montealto ranch, owned by local breeder Agustín Montes; the presence of the renowned matador Morante de la Puebla; local bullfighter Diego García; and the 30th National Championship of "Recortadores" (bull-leapers), a prestigious event in Spain gathering the country's top specialists.

In total, there will be 8 bull runs: 7 daytime runs and 1 nighttime run. The following cattle ranches will feature in these thrilling events:

  • Tuesday, August 25th, at 11:00 AM: Hermanos Tardieu.
  • Tuesday, August 25th, at 10:00 PM: Hermanos García Jiménez.
  • Wednesday, August 26th, at 11:00 AM: Zalduendo.
  • Thursday, August 27th, at 11:00 AM: São Torcato.
  • Friday, August 28th, at 11:00 AM: La Castilleja.
  • Saturday, August 29th, at 11:00 AM: Núñez de Tarifa.
  • Sunday, August 30th, at 11:00 AM: Juan Pedro Domecq and Álvaro Núñez.
  • Monday, August 31st, at 11:00 AM: Montealto.

All runs, with the exception of the nighttime event, will be broadcast live on Antena 3.
